I left for Frankfurt, Germany with Rachel my friend, on Wednesday 17th February for the first ever Copic Certified Designer training to be held in Europe. Peter Holtz-Kathan, director of Copic distributers for Europe and Ken O'Connell, President of Copic USA, got together to make this event happen in Europe.
Product specialist Marianne Walker and Debbie Olson, a regional instructor, both from the USA were in Frankfurt to deliver the content of the course. Peter was our host and Britta, to his right in the picture, is Peter's events organiser and PA.
Whilst there we met other similar minded individuals who wanted to become certified designers. There was Diny Sprakel, Agitte Huberts and Nicole Verkooyen from the Netherlands, (Peter who distributes Copic in the Netherlands accompanied the ladies), Isabelle Weber from Nackenheim Germany and Wendy Kadzidlo from England.
The course focused on colour theory, colouring and blending techniques, shading, airbrushing, inks and the correct use of media. We were also taught how to alter the colour of virtually anything. Marriane told us of a lady who coloured her shoes to match her outfit because she could not find any the right colour.
One type of media used was my hair!!! Below is a picture of my hair after Rachel and Marianne airbrushed it.
At the end of the course we were all presented with our certificate as a Copic Certified Designer.
I would just like to thank Peter Holtz for being a wonderful host and Marianne, Debbie and Ken for all their input.
It was great to meet new people and i was so impressed that they could all speak perfect English!! puts many of us English to shame.
